Overlord (2018)

Directed by: Julius Avery (YardBird, Son of a Gun, Jerrycan)

Starring: Jovan Adepo, Wyatt Russell, Mathilde Ollivier, Pilou Asbaek)

Just like most bigger budget movies it usually takes me a while to check them out being that I’m not big on movie theaters. I have heard a ton of mixed reviews for this film but I’m happy to say I liked it a lot. This is definitely a horror/action film that brings both in buckets of bloody fun. From the start this movie pulls you in and never lets you go. It’s a nonstop thrill ride of blood, guts  and Nazi corpses. The main characters are very well liked for the most part and you definitely feel for them through this hellish ordeal. The story is killer and really adds a new take on the war action/horror genre. I do see some similarities to another great film Frankenstein’s Army which is a good thing. The special effects are top notch and very well done. They used mostly practical effects for the creatures and very little cgi. The cgi that was used for the bigger battle scenes were implemented well. Overall this movie was killer and really kept my on the edge of my seat. I recommend this film to anyone that likes the horror/action genre. I give Overlord a strong 9/10 🤘🦇🤘

Cherokee Creek

Directed by: Todd Jenkins(Vows,Why,Harvey and Peter)

Starring: Todd Jenkins, Billy Blair, Justin Armstrong and Olivia Sabini.

I will admit I am a total sucker for Bigfoot movies so when I got the chance to review Cherokee Creek I jumped on it. This is a raunchy, gory, funny ride to the wild side. From the very beginning you will know what kind of film experience you are in for. This is a Bigfoot movie that doesn’t take its self very serious but that’s a good thing. Cherokee Creek was made with total love for the genre and it shows throughout the film. The Bigfoot creature looks killer and menacing as he dispatches the unlucky bachelor party. There is no cgi in this film, it’s all well done practical effects that drip with gore. There’s plenty of guts and dismemberments to satisfy any gore hound. I definitely recommend this film to anyone who loves good campy Bigfoot movies. I give Cherokee Creek an 8/10 and you can find it on Amazon 🤘🦇🤘

The Shape of Water (2017)

Directed by Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy,Pan’s Labyrinth,Pacific Rim)

Starring:
I thought today would be a good day to write my review of The Shape of Water since it’s also the anniversary of The Creature from the Black Lagoon. I was late checking out this film and it was always on my list of movies to watch but I finally got around to viewing it and it was worth the wait. I’m a big fan of all the films that Guillermo has done and this one is no exception. I was hooked by the very first scene and taken back by the dark fairytale visuals that go on throughout the film. The use of green and the noir feel of the film really reminds me of movies like City of Lost Children and Delicatessen. There is almost a whimsical feel to this story that grows darker and ties in with the romantic side of the main characters. The acting is top tier and really jammed full with a great cast. Being that this is a Del Toro film, the special effects are amazing and the creature looks like something out of a Lovecraftian dream. By the way I believe Del Toro would do a Lovecraft film one hundred percent justice and I hear rumors that one is in the works. The Shape of Water is a really well done movie and I highly recommend it to everyone. There is something for all the cinephiles in this amazing movie. I give The Shape of Water a strong 9/10

Unlisted Owner

Released:June 14, 2013

Director: Jed Brian

This is definitely one of the better found footage movies I’ve seen in a while. The cast really pulls you into thinking that your not watching a movie but more of a documented tale of bad choices. The old saying that curiosity killed the cat really sums of this movie. I was really impressed with the presentation of this film and all the subtle effects that made you go hmm did I just see something or was it in my head. The use of practical effects is always a plus in my book. Once the movie really gets going it never stops until you are left with blood soaked questions of why and what really happened. I recommend this film to anyone who is looking for a good independent well done found footage film. Jed Brian did a really good job for his first film and I give Unlisted Owner a strong 7/10. You can rent or buy this on Amazon 🤘🦇🤘#horror #horrormovies #horrorfan #horroraddict #foundfootage #moviereview #independant #instahorror #horrorwolf666
